Gamble : Etymology of

'gamble'

Gamble as a noun has been introduced to the world since 1823 as it surfaced a 'risky venture' and branched of from gamble( verb).Back then in 1823 the riskiest and most legendary financial venture in North America was the Rocky Mountain Fur Company's upper Missouri River expedition. Jointly organised by entrepreneurs William Ashley and Andrew Henry, this corporate 'gamble' relied on hiring a ' hundred enterprising young men' to trap beaver pelts directly in the untamed wilderness, completely bypassing indigenous trading networks.
The financial and physical stakes of this venture were staggering , with success or failure hinging on several volatile factors :
1. St Louis Outfitting: Ashley & Henry had to secure heavy lines of credit in St Louis to purchase traps, pack animals, and trade goods to equip their trappers.
2. The Arikars War: The venture nearly collapsed in June 1823 when Arikara warriors attacked Ashley 's party in present day South Dakota, killing over a dozen men and destroying supplies
3. The Rendezvous System : Forced to adapt the company pioneered the " Rendezvous" system-a massive, annual, highly synchronised trade fair where trappers met company supply trains in the mountains for goods .
Despite early losses ,this daring model permanently transformed the North American fur trade and opened up The West

Ponderings....
If the fur trade was strategically played out by Say Napoleon Bonaparte. The intention very clearly known  from the beginning, that is to guide the Arikara Warriors to civilised living through a trade , the trading of their cultural 'fur' clothes. What clothed the warrior is to be the pride of the community. I believe strategically if played out would definitely result in a better experience for the communities migled in the process. Time consumed will inevitaby be almost similar of amount's , just the complications incurred definitely is a price worth strategizing for.
Thus from two perspectives one from gamble's Vs a strategic's plan a GamePlay
If one is shown only one He is left with no choice but once given two options ,the favour inevitably rules out the 'Gamble'.
